Comcast paid people to prevent others from getting into FCC hearing

I'm not one of those politically active kind of people, but this really steams my ass!

Comcast apparently bused in a bunch of people for the FCC hearing concerning Comcast's filtering of Bittorent traffic on Feb. 25. They got there a full 90 minutes before the hearing. It seems that they all wore highlighters clipped onto their lapels or shirt necks to identify each other.

AIR is 1.0: The legitimation of cloud computing and web2.0

Adobe will announce the version 1.0 release of their AIR platform today.

In short, Adobe AIR lets you run a web application as an desktop application. The main benefits of this are:

  1. Platform independence. Developers only have to create one version of the program to run on any operating system that has AIR installed. (Air only supports Win and Mac at the moment, a Linux version is in the works for later this year*)
  2. With very little modification web apps can be configured to run on the desktop.
  3. Since the applications running on the desktop are essentially designed to run through a browser the applications can easily connect and interact with web based services.
  4. Ultimately gives the user an option to use an application over a website.

Yesterday it was dark and cloudy all damn day. Now it is going to rain all day today. Supposedly it is going to be windy with "lots of leaves blowing around" tomorrow.

Pictures from Vegas

My Girlfriend and I took a trip to Las Vegas last week. It was her first time in Vegas so we primarily did lots of sightseeing. We had a great time at Madam Tussauds Wax Museum where people are allowed to touch and take pictures with the "people."

 

 

We stayed at the Paris Hotel. Here is a picture of the view from our room.
