New Lens! 35mm

I picked up a AF-S DX NIKKOR 35mm f/1.8G ($199) for my Nikon D60 and I'm stoked with it so far. I snapped a few quick pics of some things on my desk. I got this lens for two reasons, It is awesome for macro shots and it has excellent low light performance.

The shots below were with iso 100 and no flash!

A little too close for comfort: Did Read It Later rip off Plex?

Comparison of Plex and the Read It Later logo

Recently, Read It Later underwent a total redesign including a logo redesign. It was immediately clear to me that this logo looked a little too much like that of Plex.

Letter from Mick Jager to Andy Warhol

My buddy Eric ( @wakeeze ) sent me this letter from Mic Jager to Andy Warhol asking him to make the artwork for their next album.

The cool thing is Mick gives Andy carte blanche to do whatever he wants.

I finally got Ecto working correctly (enough) with Drupal

I finally got Ecto working correctly (enough) with Drupal.

The optimal settings are MetaWeblog API, and I had to do some messing around with the timezones to get the right timestamp to show up. Drupal is smarter than most blogging platforms so that causes some issues.

It's also pretty annoying that there has been basically zero updates to Ecto since I bought it. Pretty frustrating nonetheless.

FYI: Using Multiple apps on the iPhone to create cool videos

By using multiple apps on the iPhone you can create some pretty cool stuff.

I routinely use multiple photo manipulation apps to create more interesting pictures to post on Twitter and BrightKite. This probably isn't a new idea to anyone, but I bet not as many people have experimented with a few of the different video apps out there. They are a great way to make your crappy improvised videos look more interesting.
