Why Do Slacks Have So Many Buttons/Clasps?

Recently at work they have instituted a dress code policy. Apparently government contracting and web startup mentality don't mix. So out with the flip-flops and in with the dress slacks.

I haven't really had too much of a problem with dressing up, granted its another cost to have everything dry cleaned but at least I have clothes to wear on the weekend. I'm notoriously bad at letting my laundry pile up.

But the one thing that I can't really get used to is the 3+ buttons and clasps that I have to deal with every time I get dressed or poop. I've finally gotten used to having so much buttoning and clasping to do after taking a poop that I no longer forget about zipping up  my zipper. It was a big problem when I first had to wear slacks everyday, I just wasn't used to spending that much time down at my crotch.

But what I don't get is why there are 3 friggin things to keep my pants on? There's the really far button on the inside, the button/clasp on the middle-top, and then there is the clasp off to the side. Then on top of all that work I have to buckle my belt and remember to zip up my fly? Ludicrous!
