Hellboy II = Batman and Robin
The best way to describe how I feel about Hellboy 2 is that I'm simply disappointed. I really enjoyed the first movie a lot, I stumbled across it by chance and watched on a whim. The first movie was almost Indiana Jones-esq in how it mixed in a humor and action; the movie was also slightly dark and gritty. On the other hand, Hellboy 2 was cheesy, campy, and felt cheap and really unemotional. Instead of conveying emotion the movie tried to have all the characters say exactly what they feel instead of letting the audience feel the emotions.
What was the deal with all the creatures and this fantasy world crap? In the first Hellboy there are mystical/unexplained things/creatures which would be "more plausible" than entire 'worlds' of goblins and other creatures that have a 'goblin market' or whatever behind a door at a beef factory.
The character of Abe Sapien had someone different doing the voice-over, instead of David Hyde Pierce, and much of the demeanor and essence of the character was lost. Abe Sapien in the first film would have never gotten drunk of Tecate.
